Welcome!

This blog is a forum by which you can learn about, discuss, and contribute to the political debates going on all around you. Here you can respond to the great - and terrible - ideas of the day. You can also respond to Mr. Peat's postings, post your own, and interact with each other. In short, become a class "citizen". As Churchill once said: Healthy citizens are the greatest asset any class can have - or something to that effect.

Paris Attacks

For the French people, the Paris terrorist attacks, initially upon the editorial offices of Charlie Hebdo, the satirical magazine, and on Friday evening by members of ISIS, are seen by Parisians, and the French nation at large as the first time the country has been under siege since France was occupied by Nazi Germany in 1940. That was a time when the French rightly believed the very existence of their nation was in question. Like that time, the consequences for France ripple across the world and place allies in the conflict against the terrorist group at risk.
